Museum Help - Server Software

Server Software

Installing

If you have not already done so, download and run the Museum installer - MuseumSetup.exe .

Settings

During installation, you will be prompted to enter some settings:

Admin User section
Enter the password you want for the Museum admin account.

Base Repository Data Directory Input
Enter the file path where you want the repository stored.

Stemming Language:
Stemming is the process of reducing words to their root form which is useful for 'imprecise' word matching. e.g. The words "computer", "computing", "computed" are all stemmed to "comput". The stemming language must be the same for all documents in the repository, so this must not change once documents have been submitted.

Web Server Configuration section
Select the port that the Museum web browser interface will be available on.
Choose to enable or disable SSL encryption on the web browser interface.  Click here for details on SSL configuration.
Choose to run Museum as a service if you wish.

When Museum is installed as a service, it can be started from the Windows Control Panel Services program.   When not installed as a service, start Museum via the Start | Programs | Museum menu.

You will need to submit some documents before you are able to obtain any search results.

Documents can be submitted from Windows Explorer or Outlook (Client Software),  or by the Administration Interface,  or by email (Pop3 Email Account Monitoring).
